Steel fabrication company reach out to football fans through sponsorship

A1M Steel have built a partnership with the London Stadium Business Club, helping to seal the company’s commitment to its local community. Through its football sponsorship, the Dartford-based steel fabrication company see its logo displayed at the former Olympic Stadium throughout every West Ham United game.

Working on both domestic and commercial projects, A1M Steel was formed by Adam Burdis and Matthew Turner in December 2017. Becoming involved in football sponsorship has helped the business reach out to 60,000 supporters every matchday, gaining Premier League brand exposure.

Having worked within the steel fabrication industry since being a 16-year-old apprentice, company director Adam Burdis explained why partnering with the London Stadium Business Club appealed to A1M Steel:

“It’s a great platform for us to reach out to people and helps us gain more exposure as a company. It’s not necessarily about getting calls directly from fans at the game; it’s about getting our name out there so that people become familiar with us.

“There’s 60,000 people going to each game and, maybe without noticing, they’re seeing our name around the stadium every time they go to a West Ham home match. Hopefully, that means that if any West Ham supporters come across us, they’ll already have our name in the back of their mind.”

The London Stadium Business Club stems from a partnership between Eleven Sports Media and the venue. As a Business Club partner, A1M Steel see their company logo featured on a large LED screen at the front of the former Olympic Stadium, as well as being displayed on pitch-facing mid-tier boards.

In addition to matchday brand awareness, the business is also invited to exclusive partner events, which have previously included Q&A evenings with West Ham legends, such as Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock and Sir Trevor Brooking.

With A1M Steel able to engage with thousands of local people through their partnership with the Business Club, Adam Burdis outlined how the company’s association with the London stadium has had a positive impact:

“It’s great for the business to be connected to the London Stadium and be linked to a Premier League club. It gives the business another level of prestige and works well for our social media, too.

“We recognised that football and sporting audiences were among the biggest that we could target and become involved with. To have that many fans sitting in the same place and all seeing your logo at the same time, it’s important to us.”

Being involved in football sponsorship helps to separate A1M Steel from many of its competitors and Adam Burdis described the sense of pride that being linked to West Ham United brings to the business:

“It makes us proud to see our company associated with the London Stadium and West Ham United. We have West Ham supporters and other football fans working within the business and it’s great for them to see the company they work for involved in football sponsorship.

“It’s always impressive to see our branding at Premier League games. It’s a huge achievement for us to be involved in football and gives us a ‘wow factor’ when we’re speaking to clients.”
