Insurance broker celebrate ties to local area through football sponsorship

Brownhill Insurance Group Ltd has partnered with the Crystal Palace Business Club to provide the long and well established company with Premier League brand exposure. Based in Bromley, the partnership enables Brownhill Insurance Group to be associated with its local football club, as well as being displayed in front of more than 20,000 supporters during every Palace home game.

The family-run company has been in business since 1980 and is now into its third generation; initially offering life and motor insurance, Brownhill have since specialised in business as well as personal life lines insurance, primarily operating as a B2B insurance broker.

Having previously sponsored Bromley Town FC, Commercial Manager Ben Henderson explained why the Crystal Palace Business Club appealed to the company: “We joined the Palace Business Club because it’s where we’re based, but we’re also fans of the club. It is in our catchment area, around potential clients we’d like to be working with. My father and I are both Palace fans and we’ve been going to Selhurst Park for almost 30 years. We are very pleased for our business to be associated with a well-established Premier League brand like Crystal Palace.”

The Crystal Palace Business Club is formed through a partnership between Eleven Sports Media and the Football Club. As a Business Club partner, Brownhill Insurance Group see their company branding displayed on crowd-facing digital LED boards, in addition to StadiumTV and StatZone screens, located within the concourses. Appearing at multiple stages throughout every Palace home game, Brownhill Insurance Group regularly engage with the club’s supporters.

The business can claim unique expertise, being one of the first insurance brokers to offer a no claims discount on home insurance. Brownhill also worked alongside Scotland Yard as part of Operation Bumblebee in the 1990’s, which sought to end a spate of house burglaries across the UK.

With a long-standing reputation for professionalism, Ben Henderson believes that Brownhill Insurance Group still hold a unique place within the market: “A lot of companies are going direct or using comparison sites, but I think we benefit from allowing people to speak with specialists to obtain professional advice. It’s not always cheaper going direct and we’re doing the work for the client across the market getting deals that are just not available online”.

“It’s great for the business to be associated with a well-established Premier League brand like Crystal Palace. We’re still independent. We’re a broker, not an insurer, and we bring our own expertise. Our aim is to grow our online presence whilst keeping that personal touch.”

With the business having personal ties to Crystal Palace, Brownhill Insurance Group is hoping to earn business from like-minded people. More than 20,000 people attend the club’s games at Selhurst Park, and Ben Henderson explained how the Business Club partnership has already benefitted the insurance company:

“Our clients are mainly in and around the M25, though we have clients throughout the country. We’re trying to reach out to construction businesses; people who own second homes and are letting them out; and SME or mid-market businesses as these form the majority of our clientele.

“We’ve had feedback from other fans who have seen our branding and said that we’re everywhere. People have noticed and it’s helped to cement pre-existing relationships that we have with other businesses. We’re raising brand awareness by being a Business Club partner and being associated with Crystal Palace. It’s exciting.”
