Very few clubs embody the importance of community links more than Middlesbrough FC. Middlesbrough is a one-club town, and the football club prides itself on the connection with their fanbase and the wider community. They are one of the founding members of the Premier League, and their Riverside Stadium welcomes 35,000 passionate fans week in and week out.

Eleven provides a true connection between rights-holders and their local business community, and it all began at the Riverside Stadium.

Eleven launched its inaugural community partner programme with Middlesbrough, in 2016, and it was a milestone of tremendous importance in Eleven’s story. From there, our community partner programmes have been adopted throughout the Premier League, Football League, SPFL and MLS. We’re proud to still be partnered with the club where it all began and giving local Teesside businesses the tools and opportunities to grow.

Through the community partner programme we don’t just help Middlesbrough engage with their local businesses. We also bring businesses together through our highly exclusive partner-only events, creating forums that provide mutually beneficial opportunities sharing best practice and growth.

The partners’ brands are engaged by thousands of Middlesbrough fans every matchday, appearing on crowd-facing and pitch-facing LEDs, as well as StadiumTV – football’s most widely used matchday fan engagement platform – and our innovative StatTV platform throughout bars and concourses. Fan engagement does not end on matchday, with supporters fully involved 24/7 via Eleven’s award-winning StatZone social media platform.

It is with tremendous pride that our partnership with Middlesbrough won the Best and Most Innovative Use of Technology Award at the Football Business Awards. We have since become global leaders in community-driven sports partnerships, and it all began in Middlesbrough.

Matt Cairns, CEO & Founder: “Middlesbrough have got incredibly deep roots in the community and a really strong identity, and football has always been at the centre of that culture. When we first partnered with Middlesbrough six years ago, that was a big part of the appeal to Eleven, and catapulted our community partner programmes into the minds of sporting executives across the country. Six years later, we are still proudly involved and continue to grow alongside each other with the main objective of keeping community at its heart.”

Lee Fryett, Head of Commercial & Ticketing: “Community is at the heart of everything we do at Middlesbrough Football Club. There is a deep, meaningful connection between the football club and the people and businesses of Teesside. Our relationship over the past six years with Eleven enables us to ensure those businesses have a means to align their brands and businesses with Middlesbrough Football Club, and it’s with hope that we can provide them with the opportunities required to grow their businesses and thrive.”
