Eleven Sports Media FC look ahead to Cup Final

Eleven Sports Media FC are hoping to win the first piece of silverware under the club’s new guise, as the team prepare for the Poppy Signs Sunday Trophy Final on Thursday night.

The club will face Crown Paints JFC at the Lancashire FA’s County Ground, and Eleven’s club captain Matt Cassidy has given his thoughts ahead of the game.

“It’s the first time we’ve been in a cup final as Eleven Sports Media FC, so we’re looking forward to it. It would be fantastic for the team to win it. Within our team we’ve not got many players that have experienced playing that level of game before, so it will be a new challenge.

“There are two players who work for Eleven Sports Media, Ellis Tortely and me, who have played in all of the games”, Cassidy continued. “We’ve got a good team of local lads that stick together. There’s a strong bond in the team. Everyone gets on, everyone socialises together.”

Eleven have enjoyed a dramatic route to the final, winning four penalty shootouts during the cup run – including in the semi-final against Ribbleton FC in March.

“I think in my opinion we have edged it in all the rounds, so we deserved to go through. Sometimes you need a bit of luck.

“I hope it doesn’t go down to penalties on Thursday because I think we’ve rode our luck on penalties! We need to win in normal time, it should be good fun.”

The Sunday Trophy is a competition run by the Lancashire FA for all teams across the county who compete outside the National League System.
