Alloy Wheel Business ignite local pride through football sponsorship

MMAK has demonstrated its love for the Watford area by joining the Watford FC Regional Partner Programme. Fuelled by a passion for the local community, the alloy wheel refurbishment business has become associated with their local Football Club, seeing their company branding receive Premier League brand exposure throughout every home game at Vicarage Road.

The family-run business was started by Milen Makaveev in 2005, shortly after the family had moved to the area from Bulgaria, initially offering mobile alloy wheel repairs. Having enjoyed continuous growth, MMAK currently work alongside a series of major car brands, such as Audi, BMW, Jaguar Land Rover and more. Additionally, MMAK opened its impressive wheel centre base in 2016.

Milen’s son Krasimir became a Director of the business in 2017 and outlined why the company chose to join the Watford FC Regional Partner Programme:

“When you’re connected with a reputable club, that reputation spreads. We’ve had quite a few people mention that they’ve seen us at Vicarage Road. In the local area, people have a good understanding of what Watford FC stands for beyond football. For us, being connected to Watford enhances our reputation and gives us a level of trust.

“We’ve met quite a few companies through the Regional Partner Programme: attending the partner events, meeting like-minded businesses from within the local community. When you have so many people that have an influence on the local community coming together to help each other, it has a huge impact.”

The Watford FC Regional Partner Programme stems from a partnership between Eleven Sports Media and the Football Club. As a Regional Partner, MMAK see their company logo appear on crowd-facing LED boards at Vicarage Road, as well as featuring on StadiumTV screens within the concourses, ensuring consistent engagement with supporters.

In addition to matchday exposure, the alloy wheel repair business is invited to exclusive partner events and see their logo displayed on StatTracker social media content which is shared to Watford FC’s official feeds.

“When we first moved to Watford, I went to a Watford FC soccer school in half term which allowed me to do something I enjoyed and meant my parents could continue working”, Makaveev explained.

“I saw back then that the Watford FC Trust was doing so much for the local area that went beyond football. Sport helps break a lot of barriers and created an environment for me to feel part of the community.”

Having benefitted first-hand from the work of the Watford FC Trust, MMAK places importance on supporting local causes: sponsoring road safety campaigns within schools and investing in the Hertfordshire police.

With the Football Club regarded as an integral part of the community, Krasimir Makaveev illustrated what becoming Regional Partner means to MMAK:

“Considering on average most businesses last ten years, we still feel like we’re growing. It doesn’t feel like we’re as big as we can be yet and being associated with Watford helps us showcase that. Most of our employees live in the Watford area and we’re very connected to the community. It’s where we come from and Watford FC is part of the culture.”
