Surge Marketing Solutions connect with local community through Middlesbrough FC Business Club partnership

Surge Marketing Solutions has brought itself closer to the Teesside community by becoming a Middlesbrough FC Business Club partner. By linking up with the Football Club, the business has ensured that its name will be viewed by thousands of Boro supporters every matchday.

Formed in 2014, Surge Marketing Solutions provide web design and development, as well as SEO services and social media advertising. Surge’s marketing manager, Gemma Bowman, explained why the association with Middlesbrough FC appealed to the business:

“As an agency, we can do a lot of online marketing in-house, but we just wanted the brand to be seen more in the local area and for the community to become more responsive to us as a company.”

By joining the Middlesbrough Business Club, Surge Marketing Solutions have ensured that their brand is viewed throughout The Riverside Stadium. Appearing on crowd and pitch-facing LED boards, as well as StadiumTV and StatZone screens within the concourse.

This multi-layered digital approach ensures maximum matchday exposure for all Business Club partners. In addition to their presence within the Riverside Stadium, Surge Marketing Solutions also feature on StatTracker social media content that is shared to the Football Club’s official channels.

Football plays an important role within the local area and the business have received consistent feedback about their matchday branding. Gemma Bowman continued:

“We’ve had a few clients that are associated with the club, so they’ve seen our branding at the match. Other clients have mentioned it as well. Every other month we sort of get someone saying, ‘we saw you at the match’ or ‘we know you’re partners as well’, so the feedback has been quite regular.

“Our director’s a Boro fan and others in the office are, too – but some others are from Newcastle, so it’s not quite a full house! I’m a Boro fan because I was born in Middlesbrough and you have to be. I always get my dad, nearly every other Saturday, texting me to say he’s seen the branding again. I don’t think he quite knows it’s there every week yet!” Business Club partners are also invited to exclusive events that provide opportunities to network with like-minded local businesses. Gemma Bowman expanded on how these Business Club events succeeded in bringing immediate benefits to the business:

“One of the first things that attracted us to join the Middlesbrough Business Club were the events and the networking aspect to it. We were expecting that that would happen over the year, but Eleven Sports Media arranged a welcome night that we went to.

“We were talking to a director of a nationwide company, they mentioned they needed a new website, so we exchanged details and that has actually turned into £16,000 project for us, so it’s been beneficial from day one!”
