Second Cup Final for Eleven Sports Media FC

Eleven Sports Media FC are preparing for their second cup final in six days, as the team look ahead to Wednesday night’s Gledhill Cup showdown against Highfield Social.

Organised by the Blackpool and Fylde Sunday Football Alliance, the game is a repeat of last year’s final, with the game being hosted at Fleetwood Town’s Highbury Stadium.

Eleven Sports Media reached the final with a 3-2 victory over Ma Kelly’s Showboat back in January and club chairman Steve Brogi spoke confidently ahead of the game.

“It’s an old cliché, but there’s no better way of ending the season than winning a cup final.

We were disappointed las week, but if someone had said at the start of the season that we’d reach the final of the Lancashire Cup and have a chance to retain the Gledhill Cup, we would’ve taken that.”

The game comes at a fitting time for the club, as Eleven seek to bounce back from last week’s defeat in the Lancashire FA’s Sunday Trophy Final.

Having performed well in cup competitions throughout the season, Brogi expects the team to respond positively against Highfield Social.

“It’s a chance for us to make up for the disappointment of last week. We played the same team in the final last year and we beat them.

“We also beat them in the league a few weeks ago, so although it’s going to be a tough game, I’m confident we can turn it around.”

Eleven Sports Media FC’s cup runs have been full of drama this season, but the chairman is hoping that the team can secure victory in normal time: “Any kind of win without penalties would be good!”
